MkAFD

A Program for Creating Airfield Menu entries for CFS

MkAFD - A simple utility for creating Airfield Menu Entries

Mainly designed for CFS. For the more detailed setting up of Airports (VOR, ILS, NDB, Multiple runways etc) you should use AFD by Rafael Sanchez.

MkAFD allows for the quick and easy setting up of locations to appear in the CFS Airfield menu.

Set the location of the Takeoff point of the desired runway in the Lat/Lon gadgets

Set the Altitude of the Takeoff point

Set the Heading of the Takeoff point.

All the above can be found by slewing in Free flight to the chosen location and reading off the details (Heading might need to be estimated from the compass)

There are 4 Text boxes to put relevant data about the location
Region This is used to decide what region to put the location into. CFS only has Europe as standard but others may have been added by addon scenery. If you want it to appear in an existing Region in the Advanced scenery menu then make sure you spell and case it exactly as it appears. You can create a new Region just by using a name that wasn`t there before.
Country This is Optional. Regions usually refer to larger areas (like Europe or Pacific) so you can put something here to narrow down the location (eg France or Hawaii)
City This is Optional. Can be used to narrow things down even further (eg Toulouse or Honolulu)
Airport This is the Text to display in the Airfield Menu. Best not to make it too long. Note that the location doesn`t need to be an Airfield. CFS uses "Near Southampton" and other things.

The 2 buttons at the bottom of the window let you create a scasm source file containing the data you have filled in and to create a finished BGL file ready to be copied to a CFS scenery folder.
You will need scasm 2.39 in the same folder as MkAFD if you want to create a finished BGL. If MkAFD is in its default location (the CfsTmap folder) then scasm will be available.
